We travelled for 18 months in our 5th-wheel trailer and we lived off the toaster oven at that time. I cooked everything in the toaster oven. Made cookies, cakes, baked brownies, did toast, and all the meats - baked potatoes, etc.
So yes, you can do cakes in the toaster oven. It doesn't take as long to cook because the amount is less.

Sure you can. Give it a go. I baked a small layer cake using two aluminum ice cube trays once. It worked out fine. Don't forget though, if you use wax paper, remove the paper. I forgot and sure got some funny looks as the party girl cut the cake! Use any recipe you like. Adjust the cooking times to suit the size of the pan. I would try a small mix and some easy icing if the first one is just an experiment. If the first one is the real deal, use your favorite recipe and either plan to make more than one (smaller) cake or adjust the recipe. Let your imagination run wild. Just remember that the cake will be smaller and take less time to cook.

absolutely! Your right use a smaller pan and a smaller amount of cake batter and watch it carefully, usually as soon as you notice the edges getting lightly brown it is done. All toaster ovens are different so just do it carefully! HAVE FUN!

That's how I make cornbread for my wife and myself. I use a small Corning ware casserole dish that just fits in the device, and halving the usual recipe works just fine. It's a square dish, but I don't see any reason a round or oblong one wouldn't work as well, just as long as you can close the toaster oven door completely. I don't put the lid on the casserole while baking in it.

sure but watch it closely and rotate it every few minutes. Some toaster ovens have a top element that heats even on the baking cycle with may burn the top of your cake before it is cooked thru so lay a piece of aluminum foil loosely over the top before you put it in and check it evey few minutes

much too troublesome - the heat is not well distributed, oven is too small and usually burns on the top/bottom too quickly so you might have to stand in front of it and ensure the cake cooks evenly by constantly turning the pan, perhaps
