I asked this qeustion earlier "
I too am looking for a bit of hep. I just finished formating my HD and it asked me to remove the disc, and it will re start. Once it restarted it is nothing but a black screen with a flashing bar. Any one know how I would proceed from here? I have tried restarting again with no luck. I even tried re installing the disc in the drive but still no luck. "

I got some "smart" answers. MY next question is how do I instal the OS? I was under the impresion that the recovery disc from Toshiba was supposed to have the OS on there as well.

Any help is appreciated

It was win XP home. I used the recovery dis that came with the laptop. I did't have any other discs. I was under the impression that would just over write XP over the existing OS. I guess not, any sugestions? I have tried inserting another XP (pro) into the drive and restarting but so far no luck.

There is confusion here. What was you os. If it was Window then you can install with you cd but as of Vista the branded pcs are shipped a recovery disk not a installation disk so if you have accidentally formated your C drive then my wishes are with you but if you haven't then the by inserting cd it must give you recovery options. Secondly installing a new window will automatically fix your corrupt mbr or booting process. If you can specify the os the problem would be much clear!

Are you able to use the F8 key before the flashing thing? Then maybe you can boot in "safe mode".
And yes, using the recovery CD should repair the OS... Unless the harddisk is broken.
Using the recovery CD: have a look at the manual. It depends.

Did you boot from the CD? Booting from it will give you the option to restore your system.
