I'm pretty sure you can cause going into the military is not about having sex. Herpes does not really effect any abilities that you need to join the military... At least I woudn't think so anyway.

I don't believe it is a disqualifying factor, but ask a recruiter to be sure.
B J had a bad recruiter. A recruiter should never tell you to lie about ANYTHING. I understand that they have quotas to meet, but if you get found out, you can get into a lot of trouble and end up being kicked out for fraudulent enlistment. I think the max. penalty for fraudulent enlistment is 5 years in prison and forfeiture of all pay and allowances. Just be honest.

Yes you can join. That's not a prohibiting factor in joining the Air Force.

They do an HIV check, but I don't think they check for Herpes. Your recruiter will probably tell you to put down that you have no medical problems when you do MEPS (the medical exam before you to go boot camp). If you don't put down that you have Herpes, they won't know. They might disqualify you if you tell them you have Herpes, but I don't know. They seem to disqualify people for really stupid reasons, that's why recruiters will tell you not to put anything down for the medical questions.

If your herpes gentitalis is of sufficient severity to require frequent intervention or to interfere with normal function, then it is disqualifying for enlistment or appointment in the armed forces.
