I have a terrible dilemma. I have a dog who I adore. I'm about to start a business where I'll be really busy a lot of the time. A nice couple has offered to take my dog. They'll give him a great life, I know them. Lots of family and other dogs to play with. My dog will be loved and cared for. But I love him. He's the sweetest, most loving dog I've ever had. He's a lap dog, all he wants is love love love. But I'll be busy. I can't cry any more. I have to decide. Help.

I feel like I'd be selfish if I kept him.

This is silly, if you love the dog, you will make time for him. If you are starting your own business, you could certainly manage to take the dog with you sometimes.
If you are trying to rationalize giving the dog up, then give him to the people who will love him, but stop trying to justify that you want to get rid of your dog because you are not willing to make time for him.

Do what you need to do to keep your friend with you. That is the only thing he wants - not a great family and other dogs to play with. If this is your business - take the dog with you. Train him to a crate so he can be there with you and not slowing down your business. It sounds like you really do love him.

If you cannot do this or are unwilling to, let the other people take him. You know this is not his choice.

You have to look at it from the dog's perspective. If you were him, would you rather stay with your owner and spend a bit less time with them,or be given to strangers? Dogs REMEMBER,dogs feel LOVE and become attached to people. There are other alternatives;there is doggy day care. You could try and see how he does with the other family, but there would always be that question in the back of your mind;Does he miss me terribly,is he happy? Of course it's up to you entirely, but I don't think I could do it.

You have to think about the wellbeing of the dog. Will he have a better life with another family? If he will get more attention and have a better life then let him go.
I know it must be hard for you but, you have to do what is right for the dog.

If you have to ask, you know inside you will no longer be able to give your dog the love he needs. And you know that family will be able to. Being that you know them you could visit him, or ever arrange to take him to the park and have little doggie dates. Either way good luck!

Keep him!!! I had to let my dog go and it was the worse decision I ever made....you may be more busy but your dog will still love you no matter what!

I really feel bad that you have to make such a hard decision. But my answer is that if you really love him you should make time for him so you wouldn't have to cry anymore but if you just can't do that then maybe you should give him to a good home and just ask them if you can visit and see how she/he is doing.

All he wants is...what you can't give him. I think you know the answer to this question because you DO love him. You can always go visit with him and you both will be happy.
