I been involved in volunteer work for over 20 years, you are the first athiest I have ever heard of wanting to volunteer, Wow, the red cross would be a good for you, if you work for them you cannot say a word about your faith, they would go nuts on you even after katrina, there is nothing Christian about the red cross or united way. That is another one you could work with, and I have to say this, you are not far, from the kingdom of Heaven. When you start to love your fellow man and really stick with it. That is going beyond what the average adult will do, good luck.

Of course there are. Have you considered volunteering with children helping to tutor them in afterschool programs or even during the day in school, if your work does not conflict.
You could offer to be a volunteer driver for any number of charities who need people to drive their clients to doctors' appointments, to the hospital for tests or just to see friends.
What about the Red Cross in your area, they always need volunteers.
Volunteer in libraries reading to children or running the films for seniors .
Volunteer in your local museum or genealogical society.
Be of use in a seniors center or assisted living center.
Start programs to clean up highways or parks or plant trees.
Not every volunteer organization is religious based ,what you resist, persists.

Public hospitals, animal shelters, zoos, museums, the police dept, public TV stations, librarys, nursing homes, etc. Public social services won't have a religious aspect to it.
it's when you are dealing with private non-profits that there could be a religious aspect to it, and you can always just call up a non-profit and ask them of their religious afflitations before signing up to volunteer with them. Also, your city or county will also have volunteer opportunities, possibly listed on their website, for gardening, after school tutoring, etc.
I just don't understand why you are angry about it. Religious people want to help others, too, and feel as strongly about their religious beliefs as you do with your non-religious beliefs. Working together to make the world a better place is what we need to do, not separating ourselves, by race, religion, ethnicity, beliefs, etc. Hopefully, we all work and live with people with different views than ours and hopefully, we all live together pretty peacefully. It's when we start trying to force others to our beliefs, that we usually end up with problems, and there is a definite difference between SHARING our beliefs with others and trying to FORCE our beliefs on others.
I've met just as many athiests who want to shove it down my throat as Christians, so lighten up!!! We're all trying to get out of this dead!!!
