As we all know a primary cause of atheism is a guilty conscience - the inability to reconcile one's behavior with a holy and righteous GOD who grants mercy but demands justice.

Since personally the most rabid, hard-core, obnoxious atheist I ever knew was a male prostitute - someone who sold his body for sex to complete strangers - I was wondering about the rest of you atheists.

What is it you feel guilty about? What is that one sin you can't give up? What are you doing that makes you so ashamed and embarrassed, that you can't even admit there is a GOD and that you are always in HIS holy presence?

How many of you will have the courage to honestly examine yourselves and answer this question?

Go ahead and report me, Mrs. Maintenance!

I know from experience you unbelievers would rather censor free speech than engage with anyone who challenges your specious beliefs.

Are you that insecure and insensitive you cannot accept honest discourse and disagreement?

I am a Christian and I have never reported anyone here; although my faith has been attacked in some of the most vile and disgusting ways imaginable.

I always accepted that as conditions of participation here. My views are no more nor less relevant than yours.

So yes Virgina, report me! But as GOD as my witness, I will never go hungry again....er, I mean I will be back!

"PAULO" is not my first account, you know.

I examine myself everyday and believe I'm am a good person, father, husband, and friend to many. I'd like to know where you got that primary cause of atheism or if you just made that up. I wonder if many of the people that follow an organized religion fell guilty everyday from their bigotry. I dont admit there is a god because I dont know that there is. The only reason you believe is cause you have faith in what someone has told you and that is none of my business as what I believe is none of yours and your not to judge me. I also know some unsavory people in the world that believe in god kinda like the male prostitute that doesn't. They may not be saints but they are sure there is a god yet do not follow his holy presence.

Well first of all, this question has offended me GREATLY. My conversion to atheism came from wondering about the outside world and universe, not having a guilty ****ing conscience.. in fact, the moment I became atheist is when I truly and really reconciled my past behaviors.
I have examined this question before, so obviously I have the courage to.
And the answer to that is nothing.. I don't regret anything I've done in the past. I have made SO many mistakes, but I regret none, and don't feel guilty about them. The way I do this is by forgiving others and myself - not by asking an imaginary idea to forgive me for them.

I am not an atheist because I have a guilty conscience... my conscience is just fine thank you. You assume a lot and that makes you look petty and looking to pick an argument.

Many of us are no different than christians except for the fact that we do not believe that deities exist and we do not buy into the social control that is religion. Many of us are good, moral citizens who do good for our family, friends and community and therefore by humanity.

As far as sin goes, I don't believe in your christianity version of it. I have nothing in my life that makes me ashamed or embarrassed. If you do, then that is your burden to deal with but don't project to others because not all of us carry burdens with us.

i regret nothing because there is no god ... why dont you read the bible and that will show you some great morals...
like
stoning disobedient children
don't go near a woman when shes on he period
and many more
so you really need to do your research before trying to offend people. that male prostitute doesn't represent atheism..... if he is that way than congratulation thats his life.... i can care less if hes a male prostitute.... so dont think that we are all the same

damn it just seems that the church teaches people to be more judgmental than being good people

what a wonderfully loving post ....

although I am no longer Atheist .... when I was , it was because religion was not making sense for me
not answering the questions I had
no guilt , no shame nothing

but I tell you what
if I knew a male prostitute ... I would have to ask myself why someone would be in such a position
why someone would be so desperate and sad to do that
I would try to help if I could , be a friend
I have had a female friend who was a prostitute and had such a bad childhood and knew little else
you know something though ... I didnt ask if she believed in God or not
that didnt matter to me as much as just being there for her did

carry out slightly non secular human beings experience undesirable even as they take little kids to Sunday college and pound into their minds that the Bible is really authentic and in the adventure that they don't believe that they are going to burn in hell and be rejected by utilizing society? some fortuitously yet many do not. At any price i imagine no one converts every person else faraway from a faith. this is a controversy of providing suggestion. the guy is an self reliant man or woman who's loose to apply their ideas to contemplate each of the info and make a determination in accordance with info or no longer. i imagine the persons who might want to experience to blame are her relatives. i'd if she is a pal grant her help and suggestion about no longer making issues extra sturdy than she has to and percentage with her the way you deal with selections and existence's complications outdoors a supernatural conception gadget. That replaced into the void i got here upon when I left faith initially with the exception of lack of community. you've this equipped in gadget for coping with many aspects of existence and once you lose it till you recognize its as a lot as you to construct a sparkling taking off position it might want to be complicated and persons can get into worry that would want to actual toughen that they mandatory faith in spite of everything.

uhh....wow.
i feel guilty that there are still ignorant people that are simple minded enough to believe that some random dude created the world in 6 days, especially since the very things necessary to create a day (i.e. sun, etc) didn't exist until about halfway through.
i feel very guilty that i haven't talked to more people to get them to realize that religion is bullsh*t and causes lots of needless wars.
there's a really good book out called The God Delusion. you should read it....if you "have the courage."

Or is it because they believe in an omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, formless, nameless god not biased to any religion and existing as the Universal energy in everything and everywhere? - sexless:not a he, or she or even it.
Which is not partial to anything or anyone as it is the source and matter of all creation.
It is in the atheist who believes in him/her-self only and also in the religious person who fantasizes of a partial, bribe-ble god who rewards and punishes.
Why should this person feel guilty?
To feel guilty one must be a narrow-minded/fanatical person who gives god an imaginary form, name and man-like qualities - and then is unable to break away from the brain-washing and conditioning of what is good/bad, right/wrong according to his/her conditioning. This person has guilty conscience because s/he is trying to overcome the brain-washing and conditioning.

Until now I never knew I should be guilty. I have never known a prostitute.

You really think you have a handle on this. You ask for courage and honesty.
I will ask you to practice what you preach.

For me there is one inescapable thought that prevails and compels me, its this. There is no believable god.

You seem to be a creationist so create a better god, maybe I'll believe

Oh, I'm sorry, you're right. Atheism doesn't mean that someone disbelieves in gods, they're simply in denial of your god and don't want to face punishment and end up in some place they don't even believe exists.

Wait, does that mean that, since you don't believe in Odin, that you just don't want to be accountable for your actions. Know that you won't end up in ValHalla for simply not believing, you'll go to Nifelheim or worse, Hel. Yep, cause that makes about as much sense as what you just said.
