I was just asked to do data entry work for a local cemetery. They need me to input all of their records into a program that I created. They need ALL of them put into this database. There is over 16,000 entries to be made. I know one of the people who works for the cemetery and I do not want to charge too much but with all of the time and work that I going to have to put into this to get the job done and in a timely manner. Please only serious responses.

I live in the KC MO area. I know what I have been paid by other jobs for data entry positions but I am not sure if that is what I should go with?

I have not decided is I am going to be doing this just in my spare time. I do not have a regular job right now just working through a temp agency. I know that once I have entered all of it I will be done until they need me to update the new entries.

will you be doing this in your spare time in addition to a full-time job? If yes, charge like $6-8 off the books. Were you paid for creating the database - that is a valuable skill also - charge what you think your time is worth per hour - don't quote a package price, because problems could come and you don't know how long it will take to input an average entry yet

I have done free-lancing data entry in the past and was paid per line (.18-.25 per line) or a flat fee. Things you may want to consider is: how much info you need to put in per line/column, how fast do they want this done? Can you use this company as a reference or get more work from them in the future?

I know you don't want to charge too much but ask for amount that you feel is fair to you!

hun I think u should go for what ur time is worth ..and they all say time now is valuable ...I do data entry too ..trust me it tiresome after awhile. ..So ..lets see ..about 16000 entries, I would break it down like this ..so that I dont seem like Im trynna break the bank ...but Im not under paid either...16000 entries broken down to about $300 per every 1500 entries is about $3100 maybe a little over. seems fair to me. Its just an idea.

We have no idea of where you are ,
And job rates vary by region .

You should be familiar with your local rates .
Knowing someone is irrelevant .
Figure out how many you can load a day ,
Then give them a quote based on the approx number of days and the local wage rate .
