Betty Botter bought some butter but she said the butter's bitter. If I put it in my batter, it would make my batter bitter. So she bought a bit of butter better than her bitter butter and she put it in her batter and her batter was not bitter. So Betty Botter bought a bit of better butter. (Try saying this really fast)

Thin or pour batter would be like pancakes or cake batter
Thick batter would be one you scoop (and I can't think of any right now)
Soft dough would be cookie dough
Stiff dough would be bread dough or pasta dough

Sorry the earlier answer people didn't help. Hope this is still useful to you.
