first of all, i am not Muslim & I do not identify with any one particular religion, however I would say this:

it is true in this sense, that Islam means submission to the will of God, and God's will directs that you live your life in a good and true way that honors and values others beside yourself

and that those who follow that path will live a life of much happiness and die in peace, whether there is or is not a literal heaven that follows; yet those who live their life in a way that shows hatred or selfishness instead will live life unhappily and die scared and worried

that makes some sense to me no matter what religion you think you are following

you are either asking for the islamic answer or asking what people think muslims think so i'll tell you what i know
that believing in God and only God saves you from eternal hell as common knowledge in our religion islam, esp if you are a muslim , the worst thing is to believe in that there is more than one God or that there are others you worship or give special treatment similar to God like prophets or good people/imams/priests.
every person will answer based on his faith or lack of it , i gave you my answer based on my islamic faith.

It's clear from the Bible that GOD wants everyone in heaven.
That's why he sent His Son Jesus, to make that possible.
It's also clear that most of us will be surprised who's there.
