que estas cocinando? = what are you cooking?
Saying "cual comida estas cocinando?" does translate into "what food are you cooking?", but it's not the right way to ask your question.

que estas cocinando (if you are speaking to a peer, friend etc, if a parent, teacher then "que esta cocinando?") and make sure there is an upside down question mark at the beginning as well.

Technically that is correct, but it sounds very unnatural. I'd say "Que cocinas?" instead if you are right in the very moment, or "que estas cocinando?" would work as well.
