My brother is being sent to Iraq and my sister-in-law is having a hard time with it. She just had her second miscarriage and they are having financial difficulties. Does anyone know some good verses that would comfort her?

Romans 8:35-39 (New International Version)

35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36As it is written:
"For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." 37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1 Sam 2:7 (NIV) The Lord sends poverty and wealth; he humbles and he exalts.

Give her my good wishes for her and your family. Let her know that things get rough, but the only way to grow is to be knocked back...there is a reason this is happening and although she is hating it now, she will see in a few years how much she has grown because of it!

Isaiah 41:10 says:

"Fear not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."

For a cross stitch piece, just do "Fear not, for I am with thee" and include the verse reference.

ETA:

My Mom cross stitched my favorite hymn for me, music bars, notes, and all ("Be Thou My Vision"). I realize it's not something you would want to start this late in the year, but perhaps it will give you an idea. - a verse from her fave poem or hymn, the chorus from her fave contemporary Christian song, etc. They are her faves for a reason, so you can't go wrong ;)
God bless!

Here is a prayer:

Almighty and most merciful Father, we humbly beseech Thee, of Thy great goodness, to restrain these immoderate rains with which we have had to contend. Grant us fair weather for Battle. Graciously hearken to us as soldiers who call upon Thee that, armed with Thy power, we may advance from victory to victory, and crush the oppression and wickedness of our enemies and establish Thy justice among men and nations.

( Prayer written by Colonel Paul D. Harkins for General George Patton for the Battle of Bastoge, during WW II )

turn to the book of Joshua,
first chapter...
especially verse 9.

We go nowhere alone,
he holds the entire world in his hands
and is coming backfor us soon.

there is no loss,
either he goes to Iraq and comes back...
with lots of stories...
or he passes onward to Heaven...
either way he is winning....
there should be no sorrow....
we will all get to pass onward one day...
and guess what...
there is life after death..
see Luke 16...Jesus talks of the believers
going to Abraham's bosom....
so go a head and prepare to be
amazed.....we don't just disappear
or evaporate...

Science has prove two things.
1) we are energy
2) energy cannot be destroyed...
it can change forms, transform, metamorphis...
but it doesn't get destroyed.!!!!!

hugs.
and can I just say thank you form the nation
to your relative....we really appreciate
that he volunteered to help out
and to protect us and the citizens of Iraq.
God bless and keep him safe in the
palm of his hands....letting him feel his
protection and love and joy every hour he gives up away from home.

Luke 12:4 “And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do."

These are the words of Christ, and have gotten me through some very scary times.

I hope your brother is okay.

Philippians 4:13 was penned by St. Paul when he was in the depths of the dungeon in Philippi.

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

Her husband will be making more money in Iraqi. Maybe that will see her through her financial difficulties. Good Luck.
