Actually, I think I'd just like to be remembered for who I am. For what I did, both good and bad. That I left a little wisdom behind, and a lot of mistakes that I hope the people who witnessed them learned from. I'd like people to say, "she lived her life with her eyes wide open and always found a way to let us know what she saw and how she saw it."
Paul W, the fact that that child did not live the life that you recognize as happy or influential does not mean that it wasn't. We don't know what moments of happiness he or she might have had, or will have. You can however try to help those children and maybe bring the opportunity for a different life.
And that child may have remarkable influence on many people. Just seeing the child trying to survive, watching a child who is so sick or hungry find a reason to smile. Those things are a tremendous influence, if you choose to see them. It isn't only the powerful, rich, or "celebrity" types who can inspire us, thank goodness.
I am very sorry that Gnostic, is gone, and offer my prayers and blessings to her family and friends. And hope and blessings to St. Teresa and her family and friends.
I will also say (according to my personal beliefs) that I wish Gnostic, Godspeed and great joy on her journey.

I have faced death, and to tell you the truth, I am not going to - in the words of Dylan Thomas - ' go gentle into that good night '
I would like to be remembered for my deeds, but by the ones I have touched in person, not in some electronic medium like the WWW, and if you sent me (((hugs))) on my death bed, I would curse you for sending me such a useless gesture.
I am not going to be loved by everyone, I did, and continue to upset people, for I don't tread Politically correctly around life, but live it to the full, My life is a rich omelette's, and occasionally that includes breaking a few eggs shells.
Its Nice to wish somebody well, but really do you think that anybody on this site could judge or say that they knew another well enough to give eulogies? I much rather get that from somebody I actually know now, a real account - warts and all, than an impression.
I know inside that there is no heaven or hell, and that this is it, no dress rehearsal, and I want to go with no regrets, but kicking to the end.

Amen to that! We are on this earth a short period of time, Some of us walk a lonely path. The weight is eased when shared by others. I will remember these Ladies in prayer. With some people their computer and sites like these are their contact with others. Let's not be the cause of hurt feelings & tears to another eyes! Lets use this time to bring encouragement before we realize that it is to late. Let us plant seeds of Comfort to these wonderful ladies. Let us spread the seeds of kindness,Let us sow the seed of peace, and end the strife. They would want it this way.

I am sorry to be a put down but I think this is really a privilege of western society. As you know poor little children die in Africa and other third world countries every minute of every day, and who cares about their life and their passing. What monument will they be able to leave behind or even have people say what a good life they led. Who will remember them???

i didn't know that gnostic was ill... (((gnostic))) i didn't really know her, but what i've seen of her posts she seems to be very kind.
i have not seen teresa here... but (((teresa)))
my heart goes out to them both. may their crossing be gentle.
you are right... it is the way that we live our lives and how we have treated those we come in contact with (yes, even in the cyber world) that will be our monument.
i don't care if people say that i was wonderful as long as i'm not remembered for causing harm. it is so easy to do that without realizing it. a careless word to someone in pain can cause much harm.
(((pangel)))
bright blessings to you

I would like to think so.
Pangel you are absolutely right, but unfortunately that is the way human nature works.
I am as guilty of it as the next person, although most of the time I do stir people just for fun.
I like it when someone asks a question such as this, a real question not one designed to be leading or force confrontation.
Death is always a sobering event and forces us to evaluate our own mortality, which gives us a "wake up call" to what is truly important.
Eventually we all must face death and come to terms with our own demise, I only hope I can deal with it in a dignified and gracious manner. These two individuals have without a doubt shown me that it can be done and for that they will forever have my deepest respect.
I thank you for this post.
And my thoughts are with them and their families.

(((((Pangel))))) you're such a sensitive spirit. Your sentiments are a breath fo fresh air around here. I never got to meet Theresa (My loss, I suppose) but I too, pass on my blessings to her as well. If Pangel finds something about you that is loveable then you MUST be a wonderful person, for sure. All these folks, packing up for Summerland, I'm missing out on a good party there. But I'm in NO hurry to leave here just yet. so, folks, PLEASE, save me some of that Mead and a dance or two on your dance cards. I won't be ALL that long, another 20 or 30 years and I'll join you for the party.

Father. in the Name of Jesus, I ask Lord that you grant you peace on this man, and your word tell us not ponder on what to say or speak for the Holy Spirit shall speak for you, I ask that the words this one speaks let it be your words Lord that will convict the hearts of those that are around him. This I ask and pray. AMEN
