A Veterinary Assistant and a Licensed Veterinary Technician are two completely different things.
Any person off the street can become a Veterinary Assistant so the pay scale would be minimal.
A Licensed Veterinary Technician must go to school, earn a degree, and pass a board exam to become licensed. Then they must go to continuing education every year to keep their license, among others things, depending on which state you live and work in.
If you want to pursue a career in the Veterinary field, go to school to become a Tech or a Vet.

I wouldn't recommend becoming a surgeon just for the sake of money, it's a serious ethical commitment. I don't know about salary-wise, but I think vet tech gets paid the most, doing things such as blood work, x-rays (taking, not examining), setting up heart monitors, etc. Assistants do the dirty work such as surgery prep (I'm pretty sure there are no veterinary anesthesiologists), give animals shots, hold animals down, etc. I believe assistants get paid the least.

Most start at min. wage since there is really no prior experience needed. Then you can get more as the vet sees fit......and they are often on the cheap side.

The "job description" for the link above is really more for a Vet Tech...not a vet assistant. You normally do not walk in and start doing injections and blood draws!!!!!!!!!!! Vet Tech require college...sometimes 2 years, but many are now 4 year programs.

Not much. Jobs with animals are jobs done for love, not money. You can't really get rich with animals.

$25,140 / year but this would depend on where you live. It is probably more if you live in a city and considerably less if you live in a rural area.
