I don't know but I feel so uncomfortable with people who praise most of the time. Sometimes, when the praising is done so frequently, they lose their essence, and they sound more like flattery than praises.
I think if I admire someone, I'd praise her with sincerity in my heart. I don't need to be so loud about it.
I enjoy being in the company of real people. Those who can appreciate me as I am. Those you can correct me if I'm wrong. I won't be put down because I just hang around with 'real friends',..who won't shower me with fake praises

I never really hung out with anyone who put me down..or if I did they were quickly expelled from my life. My friends have been 'weeded' through over the years...absolutely. If people are bringing you down, you have to cut them loose. They will take you with them if you dont. My bf I have now is so supporting and is always praising me..and we spend alot of time together. So yes...most people I hang out with praise me; I cant let others bring me down to their level, because that is exactly what they would be doing!!

Itry not to hang around any since I am not some charm on a necklace to be shown off as a trinket of value.. I am a diamond in the darkness that reflects the light that others cast.

I am a Loner by Nature, being with a bunch of shattering Friends makes me wish I was somewhere else. But if i did hang around with Friends, I would rather be among friends that are sincere, in their Vocabulary as I am.

It's human nature to wish to be glorified, even to some extent.
I go by rules like: When the people around you compliment you on your intelligence, it is time to find smarter friends.
Same with any other aspect, but this is more of a self-bettering technique rather then personal interest.

I only know a few people that choose to "put me down", but I also know that they are not fully acquainted with me. Much of it is based on jealousy or envy. I think it is childish to brand someone as something without due cause or knowledge of the individual's character. I wouldn't necessarily avoid them. As a matter of fact, I would love to meet them face-to-face for any reason. I am confident of the person I am, and what kind of character, integrity and honesty I possess. I run from no one for that particular reason. They can, but I won't.

i like people who treat me like an equal.
while i'd prefer someone who praises me as opposed to puts me down, i would constantly be wondering what is up that person's sleeve and what they are up to. cause constant praise isnt normal either
plus it would give you a big head.

well, i believe in balance. i mean, it's great to have people praise you. but, if it is false praise, then no. although, i would not want someone putting me down every chance they got. they should give me tough love. i believe that this answers your question

If someone is praising you..then, they are of suspicious nature. and, the other (puting one down)..is abusive.
if given the choice, I'd rather be alone.
