The correct english translation of hablaron del fuegos is "they spoke of fire"

They were talking about the fires would be "Ellos hablaban acerca de los fuegos"

But hablaron del fuegos would would too, it's bascially the same thing.

Hablaron is the wrong tense. Hablaban is a more appropriate tense. As well, fuegos is a plural, but del is in the singular.

It's wrong. Its "los fuegos" because fires is plural.
"Ellos estaban hablando de los incendios" = they were talking about the fires.
"Hablaron de los incendios" = They spoke of the fires.

No, it's not.

"they were talking about the fires":
"hablaban de los incendios"
"estaban hablando de los incendios"

"they talked about the fires":
"hablaron de los incendios"

"fuegos" is not used in this context.
