Yes. There are actually 2 or 3 books that address this. I use them for salad dressings mostly. If you are adding them to a cooked dish, they are best added the end of the cooking. Just a few drops is all that you need. I would suggest using some that are familiar culinary herbs initially. Basil, oregano, thyme cinnamon...things like this.

The essential oils I know of are those that are used for aromatherapy, not cooking. And you do not want to use essential oils without a carrier oil or a diffuser.

There are essential fatty acids, but those are completely different from essential oils.

All the time. Essential oils are the basis for most flavorings and herbs that are in stores now days. So next time you add a touch of vanilla to your cookies you are cooking with an essential oil. They are found in most anthing that is very aromatic in its basic state (Herbs mostly)

Sure, just check with the maker of the oil to make sure their product is suitable for food use.

I frequently use essential oils to flavor candy! I use them in any food where I want a 'blast' of flavor but the actual herb, bark, rind etc wouldn't be desirable in my finished item.

Don't forget that essential oils are potent, the difference between just right and overpowering flavor can be just one tiny drop.

Essential oils, or essential fatty acids are a constituent of verious oils. Probably the best is flax oil and yes, peaople cook fith fax/linseed oil to get more EFAs into their diet.
