well most cheap hot dogs have any beef meat trimmings and fat, chicken parts,pig parts , and some even have some forms of worms(rare). The better hotdogs will be made of the better cuts of hole meats. Some have a natural casings some don't.

One story has it as being invented by a Brooklyn man named Feldman in the late 1800's who originally named them, "Red Hots". However the people quickly called them Hot Dogs because they said, "That's probably what was in them".

In hot dogs it is what ever else is left over after they package up and separate what need to be separated. And the outside is intestines. It is the same with bologna.

It is a mix of pig and cow.
I know it sounds gross but think about it we eat at lease 4 of them in a year or more. Just be sure to put ketchup on top.

It is a lot of the heat meat, like cheek, etc...it is not half of what people think it is. There are government standards, packing houses aren't throwing eyes and hair in there, rest assured.

If it doesn't say all beef, then it has everything in it. Good, bad and inbetween. Talk with a butcher sometime. BTW, you will never find a butcher that will eat Whitecastles. lol. I'm serious.

unusable scraps of various meats unless it says beef only and then scraps. yes i have seen them made in a packing house.
