i just got a sony cybershot and i charged it for like 20 minutes and it won't turn on at all! I'd think that 20 mins would at least give it enough charge to turn on. is there a problem?

Either your battery can no longer hold charge (usually when it's very old), or your camera's broken and needs repair. You might have to contact Sony to have it repaired.

20 minutes is definitely not long enough to charge the battery. The first step you should take is to have a good look at your user manual.
Go to the section about charging the battery for the first time (it should be near the front)...you might have to charge it for at least 2 hours or more.
I know you are exited about your new camera and you want to use it as soon as you can...but you have to be just a little patient and allow the battery to fully charge.
My suggestion...charge the battery for the required time and while you are waiting for it to charge, you could read the user manual step by step....and re-read it. You will be amazed at what you can learn about your camera...and all it's features and how to connect it to your PC and upload photos etc.

No way is 20 minutes enough time to charge the battery. Wait 4 or 5 HOURS.

you may have a defective battery. However, try charging it for a few hours and try again. Is this a used camera or did you buy it brand new? If it is used, you got yourself a bad battery and it needs to be replaced.

20 minutes is NOT NEARLY ENOUGH.
I know you're excited to play with your new 'toy' (I have two Sonys, I LOVE them!) - but you have to charge the batteries for at LEAST four hours.
