It was obvious he was pulling on the fender, the cover was no where close to it!

I can't believe Jeff did that!!! Thats not like him, but i guess all drivers get desperate enough to try and get away with something to help himself during a race. Its too bad!!! But i still LOVE HIM!!!

Go RCR!!!
Go Jeff Burton!!!!

Come on Jeff put the other guy in front of you...when you try to make this move on the fender....You got caught...goes to show you, when you are always a straight shooter, when you try to bend the rule alittle bit...oh well you got caught..You do not touch the car bottom line...true he could not have pulled that fender out with a bare hand (unless jeff burton is the new bionic man) its on national TV Jeff..you are a smarter guy than this come on..

I am not a fan or hater of Burton.... so this is just sort of an impartial "GUESS"...

Maybe he didn't really think he was "fixing" it by pulling on it, just checking it out? Maybe he planned on actually doing the repairs when they went to pit row???

But for the record, I really don't know.... I missed most of the race since I was traveling and had to listen to what I could on the radio. I really cannot make a honest opinion call from what I heard and not what I saw. SO my comment is more of "Could it have been?" rather than a statement of any fact. LOL

It kind of looked like he MAY have tried to been catching the cover with one hand, and just happening to grab the fender while doing it, but we all know better. ;)

I doubt he could have been serious about that, seeing as how he knows the cameras would have caught the entire thing. Maybe his crew chief was a little peeved about it, and he was just saying it for kicks and giggles. NASCAR may have been make it look like he was a dirty rotten liar and not let us know the entire situation with that.

All I know is, I actually found it pretty funny when he said that.

I can only venture to speculate that as the elections are drawing nearer, and since the NASCAR drivers earn so much money anymore, that politicians are having more contact with racers and their ways are rubbing off. I had always liked the Burton brothers, mostly because of their accents.
NASCAR has so many inconsistencies when it comes to rules, fines, points, and drivers that I think the political machine has landed in their backyard.......

OK... now when did this happen? The first time they had a rain delay or what cause I missed it! I went to help lay flooring in our living room when they red flagged the race & when I came back in to see if the race had resumed the news was on. Found out later that ABC switched over to ESPN, which of course, that's when my DVR quit recording! Damn... I miss everything!

It was wrong, however, I don't think he gained much and someone should have covered him. His crewman should have been standing in the line of sight if they were going to do something so blatant. I'm a Jeff fan and I am sorry that he did something so stupid.

He was securing the cover, he couldn't help it if he lost his balance and grabbed the wheel opening to keep from falling in the wet pavement.

Ya i dont know!!!! that really is un-characteristic of him....looked bad.....as much as i hate to say it!!!
I like Burton and he is apart of my team!!!
REMINDS me of Gordon trying to fix his bumper when he ran over the piece of concrete that flew up out of the track...he got out under the red flag while they were patching the track and started to pull on his front bumper...remember that one???

GO HARVICK & RCR!!!
