Yes, they can breed quite young. The male generally walks very slowly and makes a grumbling noise as he follows the female. Be prepared for several litters a year if you keep them together.

Its too late now......you're female is most likely pregnant. However, you can prevent other pregnancies by separating them. Males are fertile and able to mate as early as 25 days old.

You should have gotten your resident male a BABY male for a cage mate. This works well & they don't fight. introductions are key to sucess. http://www.cavyspirit.com/sociallife.htm Scroll down & read the part on introductions.

You may want to see if your sow has any male babies. They would be good to house with your older male. The boar can stay w/ the female until close to the birth, then they must be separated. The sow can become pregnant again within hours after the birth if they aren't separated. If your sow has any male babies, they will need to be separated at 21 days or you risk her becoming pregnant again.

Please see the following links for information & prevent future pregnancies for your poor little sow. She has a 20%-25% chance of dying during the birthing process.

Move the male to another cage. It can still sit next to the females cage for company. After the babies are born pick out a male to keep with your female. Do not let them be together ever again!. Try to adopt the mom with a female baby.

Yes they do a type of mating dance which the rumble while walking slowly and moving their backside from side to side. I bet the female is stressed out. She is more than likely to be pregnant now and you will have to remove him from the cage before she litters as she can get pregnant again straight away, so you are back to him being lonely. There are too many unwanted litters as it is without adding to the problem.

They can start to breed at 6 months of age, males and females shouldn't be kept together unless one is fixed, as they have too many babies-and that will stress them out-not to mention you as you will be having to find homes every month they are allowed to get pregnant for 3-5 pigs-AND having seperate cages for the babies once older so they are seperated by gender-so they dont inter breed more.
Two males are a no no b.c of territory problems.
Two females are ideal.
If I were you, i'd sell hte male, or fin da seperate cage and let yourself have two females together instead.
