About a week ago he was laying next to me and all of a sudden he jumps up and starts falling down and hitting himself on the walls, he kept raising his arms and his legs as if he couldn't control his body. His head would also sorta fall back, and he would twist around on the floor. He was also shivering like he was scared. I didn't know what was going on so i just pet him and gave him massages. I thought it was that he got cramps or something, but today it happened again in the car. Im taking him to the vet tomarrow to get him checked out but i was just wondering what it is.

Also, i noticed that its happened when he doesnt get to do what he wants. The first time it happened was because he wanted to go out of the room into my parents room but my parents said to leave him in my room, and the second time was because i had him sit on the car floor, and he wanted to go on the seats but the car was packed and he would walk on everyone...so i dont know what this means..

Yes,it definitely sounds like a seizure. He could have epilepsy or some other neurological problem. If it's just epilepsy,a lot of dogs have it,he will need daily medication to keep the seizures under control.

I think your dog is having seizures. Thats really terrible, Im so sorry. Dont give up hope though, i once read about a person with 2 daogs, one had epilepsy and the other sensed when it was going to have a seizure and would hold it down and protect it. Hopefully the vet will be able to help.God bless you, and your dog.

I'm glad to hear you are taking him to the vet. It sounds like your dog is suffering from an inner ear infection. This is commonly caused by an acute infestation of ear mites. If so, there is a treatment your vet will use to clear it up.

There are other, more serious, conditions which could cause this such as neurological disorders, but these are rare...so don't stress out. I'm sure in no time he'll be just fine.

Oh, and give him a hug from me.

It sounds like seizures. Is he a boxer? Boxer have been know to have health problems with seizures. I had a boxer a long time ago and she died from seizures. You need to take him in to the vet immediately. If your vet it closed you should really find an animals hospital to take him to right now. Cause when my dog had seizures she died the day she stared having them.

It sounds like your dog is having seizures. You should keep a log on your dog each day. Writing down the weather, what he ate, what you did that day etc. You should take him in to the vet tomorrow and get him properly diagnosed and treatment started.

Sounds like he is having seizures (epilepsy). Your vet should run some labwork to rule out other problems as well. Usually we don't know what causes them, though in old dogs brain tumors could be the cause.

Could be epilepsy, but could also be:
1) a tick biting him on the spinal column
2) a crack or kink in the spinal column from an accident
3) spasms from ingesting a poison - the most common would be car antifreeze (and it doesn't take very much - just a lick or two)

Sounds like your dog is having seizures. We had a GSD who had epilepsy and did the same thing.. When you take your dog to the vet, make sure to tell him / her everything, even if it is little things you may not think is important. It will greatly help your vet.

it sounds like a seizure. but i could be wrong, my wolf had them until she had her puppy(yes, one puppy). she shook and quivered, i had to hold her tongue so she wouldn't swallow it. and when it was over she had no idea what just happened and was exhausted for the rest of the day. let us know what the vet said.
