I have been reading a book about vampires who live France. They live in a place called the Chateau de C------ (except it's not a dashed line).....what exactly does the C------ mean or how is it pronounced?

Yes, I know what chateau means and I was aware of the fact that the C--- part would be the name of the place...I just didn't know if it had any significance in the French language. It's just a little odd to see something like that.

The C--- is "blanking" out the rest of the word, so you don't exactly know what it says. This could be for protection or just the literacy of the story.
Chateau IS french and it means castle. It's pronounced "Sha-toe" but the 'sha' is a mix of of ch and sh, kind of like sh in "shut up". lol.
So it means Castle of C---.

When you say "it's not a dashed line" you mean it IS a line, just not dashed? That's a weird old-fashioned thing to make it look like the story is true and they're protecting the people's (or in this case vampires' identity).

I don't really get what your asking but the C---- part would be what the castle was called, like its name. Chateau means castle in french.

It has no significance for me. They were prolly planning on finding a French name and then their deadline came so they left it as is.
