...when it comes to interacting with people, do you find that, when problems/disagreements occur, you work things out more readily or do you find that you put up with less malarky & therefore cut out people who bring you down?

I'm 41 and I have learned that at this age you have enough experience with people and the world to know when problems/disagreements with others have merit enough to be worked out through discussion and compromise, and to know when people are trying to take advantage of you or are just yanking your chain. Trust your instincts and remember "its nice to be nice" but not at the expense of your integrity or morals.

The older you get and the more life experience you have you find you have the ability to do both. It really depends on who you are dealing with and their importance in your life. You will be able to see things from many more angles. While it's great if things can be worked out, sometimes you just realize that you've been putting up with too much from others and decide to move on or away from those who create too many problems in your life. It's a good feeling actually to get to the place where you realize you don't have to make everyone happy or even like them because you are more comfortable where you are coming from.

A little of both! I'm 43, and I noticed that starting about 5 years ago that I cherished friendship more, so I found that I was putting up with my friends' idiosyncricies more than I used to...but, at the same time, I'm finding it harder & harder to form NEW friendships, because frankly, people annoy me. It's like, once a friendship ends, I rarely feel the urge to rush out to "replace" a friend like I used to. I'm not blase, just, well, unmotivated to steer myself towards any further drama. It's too much work!! Life is hard enough. How's that for an honest answer!!

I will be forty in February. The older I get the less tolerance I have for nonsense. I don't want to be bothered by people that put me down or think that I need to put forth all the effort to stay in touch. If it is a minor disagreement I think that it is easily fixed.

I think that with maturity comes patience. Of course, this is a personal characteristic. Some become jerks with age, some become more understanding and compassionate. Change is bound to happen, it does at every age. Listen to criticisms, hopefully the constructive kind, and try to understand it, and determine if it is valid. Then, work on improvement. I strongly believe in Karma (what goes around, comes around) and try to live with that in mind. If you are someone that values others, you will be valued. If you are someone who could care less about others, then expect the same. It is a life philosophy.

The older I get, the less my patience with stupidity.

Have a polite day.
