If you are a normal persons the water taken in will be coming out in the form of urine, with bowl, or perspiration. Taking 4 liters of water because of over eating is just not possible. In topical countries you may be able to take on a whole day this much of water.
If you have any health problem like diabetes, BP, Heart problems, the full intake may not come and some water retentions will be there and your legs are bound to swell. Please do not take water more than that of required quantity-

Don't drink that much water in a short period of time. There was a guy here who drank 2 gallons of water in a couple of hours and died. His kidneys couldn't process that much water, so it backed up into his brain.
Water weight refers to the excess water stored around your waist, in your face, in your feet or hands. I don't know why--maybe your kidneys aren't working well--water weight occurs. Some people, like athletes, like to have water weight, because then they won't dehydrate in a game.
It's very common for pregnant women to get water weight, especially in their feet.
Eating salt is a good way to put on some water weight.
Most of the time it goes away by itself, but if you notice one of these areas are puffy, a natural way to get rid of it is to drink some caffiene--like a cup of coffee or a glass of tea.
Drinking water will not cause you to lose weight in and of itself. It would be better to walk a mile or two every day and stop eating simple sugars.

It won't be anything close to a pound of weight. 4 liters of water isn't that much and your kidneys can handle it fine. It will just make its way out through your urine.
As far as the food you ate today, a pound is 3,200 calories. Did you eat an extra 3,200 calories in one day? I seriously doubt it. So don't worry. Make sure you exercise and you're fine.

When it come to water ..your body will only take what it needs and you'll expel the rest. Unless you force gallons down at one time. Once your body reaches water balance you'll find that you drink a cup you expel almost exactly the same amount.

If you continue drinking that much water each day, your body will get used to getting rid of it, but you won't lose much by tomorrow morning.

4 litres of water is 4 kg (don't you love metric?), so 8.8 pounds of water. After wrestling, I know all about water weight, and you have nothing to worry about, it'll come off within 2 days for sure.

If you're urinating a lot, then it will be gone. If you're not, it will still be there. My guess is that something in the middle will happen.
