From £40 to £50 for one person, depending on how often I eat at restaurants. To put things in perspective, I'm at university away from home, have barely enough time to cook, but am well-off enough to feed myself decently.

Yes, my parents expect me to spend this much on food, and phone me often to enquire about the restaurants in Edinburgh (not very good, to be honest). It's a family thing to eat well; my parents spend around £120/week, I think (I have no siblings).

Basically, 25% of the household income is reserved for food, 30% goes to rent, 25% goes to savings, and the rest is for bills and special purchases ^^ (no, we don't have a car, and that saves quite a lot for better food!!). My personal budget is more like 50% for rent and 40% for food =p

And what do you eat spending only £180 for SEVEN people??? It's hard to imagine that in this country o_O. My stomach would feel very miserable with only £26/week for food!

I come from a family of seven kids aswell. My older sister moved out about a month ago and I think my parents spend about the same a week that they used to. I'm not sure how much exactly they spend because my parents do the shopping not me, but I know it's ALOT!

theres 4 of us and I spend around 140, you budget well babes wanna take over my shopping list? I find it a pain cos I end up with lists for everyione else, everyone has different meals cos I work full time and shifts and my son works full time, my daughters in college full time and my husband has sleeping problems so we all have erratic eating times so theres never a good time to eat together (cept weekends) so our shopping bills are horrendous .... don't you hate it when you spend a fortune on food only to be told theres nothing to eat cos you didn't buy any cr*p?

I don't have an exact amount, but I think I spend more on food than anything else! But then again, I love eating. :) It's better to spend money on a good meal than spending money on something you have to dust, haha!
