Many people suffer from acne, especially females in the range of 15 to 35 years. Three factors contribute to the formation of acne:
* Overproduction of oil (sebum)
* Irregular shedding of dead skin cells resulting in irritation of the hair follicles of your skin
* Buildup of bacteria

It's not known what causes the increased production of sebum that leads to acne. But a number of factors — including hormones, bacteria, certain medications and heredity — play a role.

Contrary to what some people think, foods have little effect on acne. Acne also isn't caused by dirt. In fact, scrubbing the skin too hard or cleansing with harsh soaps or chemicals can cause irritation, which may make acne worse.

Acne treatments work by reducing oil production, speeding up skin cell turnover, fighting bacterial infection or doing all three. With most prescription acne treatments, you may not see results for four to eight weeks, and your skin may get worse before it gets better. Oral prescription medications for acne should not be used during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester.

Another important reason for acne I have personally found is Constipation and you have to treat this by natural way. Drink lot of water and take fibrous food.-

there are steps which helped no end and cheap to as its a constant thing to keep at way, as you know. First when you bathe try dettol, a couple of caps fulls in the bath, this kills germs that our bodies carry and cleanse the skin. After put e 45 cream on it works for all kinds of skin complaints that the Doctor recommends to most to try. Also wash hands all the time this sounds simple but think of the dirt that we carry from touching this transfers onto our skin. Then a daily routine of drinking at least 2litres of water to flush the system. And mulliti vitamin every day. I know it sounds hard but its all easy creaming takes two minutes, pop a vitamin pill one minute and drink the water through out the day and eat less sugar and grease. I have no spots i follow a two minute routine and i have great skin for my age and look younger.In fact i have my children doing it now. And if you suffer stress this will only increase the problem so try to relax at night so you get a good night sleep. I fell ill and was in hospital i did not do all of this and had spots, life style and what we eat and drink plays a huge part in this. Take care

Oh, come on now. It has nothing to do with who deserves it and who doesn't. That's not nice. It's not a punishment.

I've had cystic acne since I was 13. I was on antibiotics for years to keep my skin clear. I haven't been on them for a long time (I'm 42) and I still get the occasional bad cyst---horrible thing. But I don't touch it (except for a little acne medication from the store) and just leave it alone and it goes away itself after a few days.

i used to and nothing seemed to work. now this is what i do and believe me , it works. use a benzoyle peroxide scrub in the morning. leave in on for a couple of minutes (it may burn a little if you have sensitive skin). then spot treat with benzole peroxide cream like oxy. try not to wear make up. you may need a light mostiutizer at first to keep your skin from drying out. then cleanse your skin at night with something very mild. i like to use regular noxema. i also spot treat with the bp cream before i go to bed. this will work, i promise. also make sure you are eating right, because sometimes you can break out if you have a vitamin deficiency.

Yep, people always look at your face when they're talking to you instead of your eyes. And boys run for miles when they come close and see it. I hope the scars aren't for life, facial and emotional.

Best advice I can give is to take care of yourself, don't stop putting effort into your appearance and smile alot. You are beautiful!

Everyone suffers from it. Some people get it so bad they have to take medicine that make their whole face entirely peel.
