Thanks!

You are not alone in disliking school, but believe me when I say staying in school and doing your best will pay off in the end. I hated school, well not so much school as some of my teachers and a bunch of the kids. I could tell you the story of how I had the same teacher for "English" and "English Literature", got straight A's in English Lit', and an "F" in English. But everyone is aware not all teachers should be teaching.
I made it through by knowing what I wanted to be, a nurse, and what it was going to take to become one. It made the fact that sitting there day after day most of the time studying things I already knew, a real pain, but worth it. I skipped two grades as it was and so was learning to be a nurse by the time my age group was in the graduating class. I did what assignments were given then studied ahead on my own. that kept it more interesting, and I loved the looks on the faces of the other kids when I knew things they didn't. It made dealing with the snobs, clicks, and all, a lot sweeter. If you know what you want to be find out the requirements, how much collage, what level of math, science, or what ever. It will make it easier each time you pick up a book because you know your getting that much closer to being what you want to be. Besides the more you know in your field the better the pay.

Go forward in time about fifteen years. You are now an adult, out on your own, independent, and responsible for yourself. The world doesn't really owe you a thing. You have to earn it. Other people are not going to see any reason why they should help you to support yourself just because you can't do it, and you can't do it because you rejected your one great opportunity to learn the kind of stuff in school that would be the foundation for a good job, or profession later on.

You think you don't like school now. I know some things you are going to like a whole lot less in a few years down the road. You wont like being turned down for jobs that they tell you you're not qualified for. They'll tell you, "Sorry, this job requires at least college level schooling. It's going to be very frustrating to discover that the kind of jobs you would love to have, with the kind of money you would love to earn, are not available to you because employers want a much higher level of education from the people who work for them.

The way to keep yourself focussed now, it to keep a picture of the future in mind. Even if you were to get married, there is no guarantee that you are going to get supported by a working husband while you stay home and play housewife. The way to get more excited about school right now, is to think of all the doors that will open wide to you when you have a good certificate of education in your hands with your name on it. Then think of those same doors slamming shut in your face, because you don't have what they are looking for.

This isn't my imagination, hon, this is the reality. Everything you do in the next few years will affect the whole of the rest of your life -- either for good, or for bad. You are going to get to that place in time whether you work hard now or not. But if you don't, you won't have much to smile about when you do get there.

you don't say how old you are, or if you have always felt this way.
it's hard for young people to focus on the future, since they are usually living in the here and now. try to think about where you would like to be in 10, 15, 20 years, and what you have to do to get there. most people's dreams involve having enough security to be able to afford what they want. in order to earn money, you need an education. that involves school.

if you are uncomfortable with the kids you go to school with, try to ask yourself why. if you are not involved in activities, you will not feel a connection to the school, and you will not be excited about going there.

are you bored? that might be one reason why you don't like school. check into other classes -- maybe there are some electives that will interest you.

if you are in a regular high school but have no interest in college, think about a vo/tech. you can graduate with the certification you need to get a well paying job in areas like child care, cosmetology, graphic design, computer repair, etc. not everyone needs or wants college. no shame in that.

try to talk to a teacher or a counselor. volunteer to work on projects in class, or see if you can help out in the library or in the office.

making connections is key!

I'm sorry to hear that you don't like school. Reason is, I'm 27 years old, a single mother of 2 small children. I work at Waffle House 40 hours a week. My life is hard and I have recently started going to back to college. If I hadn't waited to go back to school, I would already have a degree and I would not be struggling now. Education is so important and your future can be exciting if you stay focused on the end results.

I never liked school and left as soon as I could, at age 15. Now I am doing quite well and have done a lot of post school courses. In fact I booked in to another course which starts on the 15th of this month.
For me, school sucked. I did not like what I had to learn. Most of it was not relevant to later life. At least when I have chosen further study coursed, I was able to learn things that were of interest.
This has also led to me giving tuition in some areas. Topics that I like, I have been able to do really well in.
Put up with the school subjects for now. Things will improve once you get past it.

Leave.

If you don't want to leave, then realise this.

You may as well make the most of your time
You do not know now but you will regret not making the most of it
It will be better for you in the long run
This moment will pass
Get over it
Make your day, and live it
Love it, hate it, you choose, hating anything is not a smart option
Be a school drop out, is that going to make you happy
Do you have any aspirations in life, if so, get an education.
You don't know it now, but these years well spent doing your best.
Most people feel like this at some stage
You may be able to reach your goals without an education, but it will be harder.
All good positions, with good money need qualifications.
If you are going to put in the time, then put in the love.

Have you heard enough, now get your head down, and enjoy school.

The trick is to realise that once you leave you will most probably never see anyone again - you will maybe move county or even country so it's best to get yourself a good education - knuckle down and work hard and concentrate on what you will be achieveing when you leave rather than what you have at the moment.

Think for the future. Yes school is boring, but you need to get good grades. If you do not get good grades then you will not be accepted to many colleges. You need to go to college to get a good job. There you will have more money in a better job.

So think about the future.
