wow, i've heard a lot of answers here and don't know what to do. there was someone who said somethin like, do what you want life is short. well the after life is everlasting. and if someone is still answering to this or if adding this will put me back on top so people will see it, why would god make us able to have these sexual urges all the time and not use them?

Yes.

Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).

The Catholic Church recognizes the power of sex when it teaches, "Sexuality affects all aspects of the human person in the unity of his body and soul."

Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality within the person. A chaste person's body and spirit lives in unity and opposes any behavior that would impair that unity.

Masturbation is contrary to the human dignity of the person, anyone about whom the person has lustful thoughts, and the dignity of human sexuality.

For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, section 2352 and following: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt3sect2chpt2art6.htm#2352

By the way, sin is a deliberate thought, word, deed, or omission contrary to the eternal law of God. The eternal law of God applies to every human being, not just Catholics.

With love in Christ.

ooooooooooof, not an easy question. Technically, the Roman Catholic Church views any sexuals acts - including masturbation - that happen outside of marriage and are not open to the possibility of procreation as sinful. In other words, if you aren't married and what you're doing can't get her pregnant, you're not supposed to do it.

It's not quite as easy as that, and most modern theologians will acknowledge it. Here's what I would tell the teens I used to work with: take some time to really think about what you are doing (sexual intercourse, masturbation, whatever) but more importantly, WHY are you doing it? If, for example, someone of any age becomes so focused on sex that it takes an unhealthy place in life, then that's not good. If you're doing something in a disrepectful way (even to yourself) or with lust (and I mean the nasty stuff, not natural enjoyment), something is out of whack.

My suggestion is to take some time to be honest with yourself about what's going on. Read up on it, if you want. Pray over it, which could be as simple as having an inner dialog with God, and do what you can to be the best you can be. As for confession, that's up to you. Remember, part of the sacrament of reconciliation is making up your mind to do your best NOT to do it again.

only God knows because he is the mighty One who has allowed all men to masturbate . Do not confess to being human, but confess when you break any of the Ten Commandments. Hell is not a place anyone wants to go, and I am sure you will not go to hell for any number of masturbation you will reach in your life. Be happy- life is short.

Go to confession and tell Father " I was impure with myself."
He'll understand what you mean. Tell him it was the first time, and how it made you feel- you obviously know it is wrong.

This is hard to stop, so you are better off not doing it anymore.

Masturbation will get in the way of your ability to have a good sex life when you get married.

Look at it this way- do you want your spouse to make the beautiful gift of themself to you on your wedding night? Do the same for your spouse!

You will save yourself a lot of trouble and anguish if you stop now. No one, whether Catholic or otherwise, is supposed to masturbate. It can become an addiction, just like alcohol or smoking, so it is better to nip it in the bud than to have it rule your life for ten, twenty or more years. It is a mortal sin and you must go to confession before receiving the Eucharist. Pray for the strength to avoid it! You will be much happier in the long run.

It wouln't suprise me. It's a sin to use a condom (well at least it's against the church).

BTW if you don't masterbate you will have a really bad sex life in the future, so I would not take your religion so seriously.

Listen carefully: EVERYBODY masturbates. EVERYBODY. Your entire freakin' congregation masturbates at some time or another. So if you want to beat yourself off--I mean, up--over something that EVERYBODY else is doing, that's your choice.

(OK, really hard here not to make jokes about a priest listening to a 16-year-old boy confess to masturbating. I think your confession might lead your priest into temptation. I'm just sayin'.)

well, don't masturbate as a Catholic. Do it as a horny teenager.
Confession can be fun, just make it as lurid as possible. Every detail counts.

And you never know about hell. It might be a laugh.

No, do it all you want. I'm an atheist by the way, but I think it's perfectly natural. See things like that drive priests to commit such terrible crimes against children because it's unnatural to suppress your sexual urges.
