You are a little young yet to be thinking about a career in the military. As you get into high school and nearing your senior year, if you are still seriously thinking, go see your family doctor and ask for a consult to respiratory therapy/pulmonary. More specifically, ask to have a test called the Methel-choline Challenge administered. Get those results documented and include that in your enlistment package.

Basically, if you have had an inhaler and/or an attack after the age, or maybe during or after the age of 13, you are disqualified. I am not positive of this, but I believe you can get the DQ overturned if you pass a very intensive stress test to determine your pulminary function, to make sure you no longer have asthma.

No they won't take you if you are asthmatic. I suppose that in some ways you might be better off.
When you get older see how the Coast Guard fairs for you. They are a very elite unit.
Also, talk with your doctor when your parents take you for a visit. Let him decide if your asthma is still a problem for you. Then take it from there. Also see what mom and dad have to say about your idea.
