Treatment Most cases of canine pancreatitis require hospitalized treatment for a minimum of three to four days, and sometimes much longer> http://www.pets.ca/encyclopedia/pancreatitis_dog.htm
I think your dog came home too soon! All efforts are wasted if they don't keep the dog on IV and intensive care until he is eating and drinking. That is a good explanatory website.

Wow! Thanks for letting us know. He was in my prayers.

If he had pancreatitis and he still isn't eating them he needs to go back to the vet SOON.

When my dog had it, she was in the hosp for a week on IVs and pain meds. I had to take her from my vet hospital during the day to an emergency hosp for overnite care (it was a really bad cases of it) They wouldn't release her until she started to truly eat again.

If it is a bad case of pancreatitis, they need intensive care at the hospital. It can lead to your dog getting diabetes and he may need to be on IV fluids again if he is dehydrated and not drinking water by himself, especially if he is vomiting. He could possibly still feel nauseous and not feel like eating. Pancreatitis is something that can also be painful too, so he should definitely go back to the vet.

If the vet is closed today, keep force feeding the meds and try giving him boiled chicken breast and rice and maybe the broth made from boiling the chicken breast. No salt or fatty things with it, that will only aggravate the pancreas. It is also important that he drinks. If he likes the broth you make, but not water, try mixing a little broth into the water. This might be more interesting for him.

See the vet tomorrow or if you can an ER vet tonight. If at anytime you feel you are not getting the care your dog deserves, get a second opinion. It is okay and no one will blame you for going to another vet.

If he has pancreatitis he needs to be on IV fluids and injectable medications in the hospital. Feeding or giving water orally will only make him worse. This problem is very painful. He needs to be hospitalized asap--this is a serious illness.

TAKE HIM TO A DIFFERENT VET and ask that xrays be done. Tell the vet everything, not eating, what meds he's on and so forth. I found out a while back that one vet is'nt always right.

PLEASE for your dogs sake take him to a different vet. I also would suggest an emergency pet hospital. Much better vets there that care for your animals more, little more expensive but I feel worth it for my kids ( PETS).

He obviously needs to get back to the vet or he will die at home. Call an emergency vet and they will meet you. No one here on Answers can help your dog. You cannot force feed him, it will not work. If you feed him something someone here, unless they are a vet, suggests to you, you will make his pancreatitis worse. Call the vet. Good luck.

Sounds like he needs an IV and some major antibiotics to help him fight this infection. Call your Vet again in the morning and let them know what is going on....

Berner hugs to your baby!!!

Glad you got him to another vet that is doing something for him. Keep us posted on his condition....

Hmm... this is hard. Ok try putting some pet food in the water. Just a teensy bit. If he drinks it, that's the first success. Oh yeah tyring getting a stick; a tiny one and lead him outside. Play wahtever with him and when he comes back, he's thirsty. One at a time, put more a more food. (dont give him a handful) If it doesnt work, im so sorry.

GET HIM TO THE VET NOW.

Sorry for the caps, but he needs to see the doctor again. Only the doctor can assess the situation and treat it. Good luck.

EDIT: Please update us after the vet's visit tomorrow. We understand your concern. Best wishes.

EDIT: Thanks for the updates, glad to hear Mickey is coming along OK!!

i'm so sorry your dog is sick. hopefully his meds will kick in and he will start feeling better.the only thing to do is try and hand feed him cooked meats that he likes,or a scrambled egg and bits of cheese for protien. see if you can get water down him even with a straw so he has some moisture.does your vet have good news for him?? some times sick animals know when their time has come and there is not much we can do other than make them comfy. i pray all goes well for you and your dog. best of luck.
