Indeed you are correct! However, when blacks started to get angry with Mormonism's racialism, their "prophet" had a new revelation from God! This happened in the 1980's. They now accept blacks into their priesthood. But what you read and quoted is still part of their history, as is the rest of the secrets they don't want their followers to really know. So they tell them to not read it because it isn't "faith promoting." ;-)
Their Doctrine & Covenants 132 claims if a man doesn't have more than one wife, he will go to hell. That's their scripture and they abide by it in their temple ceremonies when they get their endowments. They take vows to have plural marriages for eternity.
Of course Christians know there is no marriage in heaven, but Mormons aren't Christian, obviously.
God bless you!

I love them. I think some of them are the greatest people you could meet. It's fun to talk with them.
In the Mormon Doctrine book, it doesn't say that in the Negroes section. As the author, Bruce R. McConkie was an apostle at the time and he mentions the priesthood being able to go to all worthy males. That quote would not be in the Mormon Doctrine. Sorry but I have it right in front of me to page 527.

There are four official Mormon doctrine books and this didn't come out of any of them.
They are:
The Bible
The Book of Mormon
The Doctrine & Covenants
The Pearl of Great Price.

official official official
Oh, and the current General conference issue of the Ensign.
You are no doubt talking about "Mormon Doctrine" by Bruce r. McConkie. Did you know that he wrote this BEFORE he became an apostle? Did you know that he stated in the intro that this was HIS work and HIS responsibility?
So, don't say you are posting anything official, cause we all know it's not.

Most Mormons treat African Americans with respect. The modern Mormons have never had a problem with the African Americans.
Your comment is like asking " What did all the Christians who had slaves feel about African Americans?" It is old news and times have changed.

Not just African Americans. The Book of Mormon says Native Americans are cursed by God, too. And, no, I'm not Mormon.

It's just evidence of stupid and ignorant people. Yes, it may be out of date but I'm sure there are people who still follow it word by word. There are still people who think the world will end by the fires of hell(literally), and the world is less than 10,000 years old, go figure. Oh, I'm not Mormon by the way.

tsk, tsk, tsk... Don't you realize that the mormons are supposed to swallow... I mean change their opinion of things as the "church" dictates? Years ago, they got rid of the anti-black stance that you quote... or so they SAY! They also are supposed to accept whatever the current version of the book of mormon is, and disregard ALL prior editions as if they never existed... go figgr! The church officials also want them to actually believe that they are just another Christian sect or denomination, which is totally untrue. Just because you wrangle Christ into the picture doesn't make you Christian... look at Islam. Heaven FORFEND if you called Islam a Christian sect! WATCH OUT!
Of course you don't NEED to make any of this stuff up! I mean, they changed their minds on polygamy, why SHOULDN'T they change their minds on blacks? Theirs is a very flexible doctrine.
Okay... go ahead... THUMBS me DOWN... I'm waiting!
Have a blessed day.

Should I give you the true answer or the humor you and give you the one you're looking for? Hummm...
I'll just give you the answer you want to hear because it'll save me the trouble of having to tell the truth.
Yes we are very racist. Joseph Smith hated blacks so much that he gave away his favorite horse to a black man so the black man could sell it for money and buy his family's freedom. We make these guys bishops and stake presidents. We preach the gospel to them.
Yes we are very racist...
Come on, lady, give me a break.

Unless you think it is okay to beat your slave as long as he doesn't die right away, I don't think you have much right to criticize an outdated text from another religion. I do not believe Mormons actually believe this today anymore than I think Christians are pro-slavery.
" When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property. " (Exodus 21:20-21 NAB)
