'Gouda' is not a Punjabi word. It occurs in Kannada and also Telugu. It literally means the village head though it is normally used as an honorific.Corresponding words which mean the same and also u sed as honorific in two other Indian languages are 'Patil' in Marathi and 'Patel'in Gujrathi.

gouda is a telugu word and it represent a caste in andhra pradesh in india. gouda means persons who extract a drink from tadi trees by climbing the long trees and put incision mark on the trees. then they will extract water like drink which gives intoxication. this will be done by one particular community known as gouda. hope u can understand.
