We have a female rottweiler, 6 yrs old, who has always been healthy and is an inside dog who only goes outside supervised. A few days ago, she started bleeding vaginally a bit and we assumed it was her going into heat. Then we also noticed she's not eating and the bleeding is getting much worse. She can't even keep down water. She drinks it and 30 seconds later it comes back up. Today she started throwing up what we think is stomach bile. She's always been a healthy, active dog and has never had a problem eating. We called the vet's emergency # and for some reason it's not working today so we have to wait until tomorrow morning to have her seen, but I'm just wondering if anyone could give me an idea what this could be and how to help her. Thanks...

Please try to get her to another vet NOW. She may have a pyometra, where her uterus actually becomes infected and could rupture. It's a condition that's life-threatening. I hope I'm wrong, but it's best to play it safe and have her seen ASAP.

Good luck!

You need to get her to the ER vet now. Dont worry about calling them, just get in the car and take her. The longer you wait the worse it will be for her.

She might have a pyometra- which is an infected uterus- and if that is what she has, she cant wait until the morning to be seen.

your vet is the only one who can treat her. she sounds like she has an internal bleed some where. keep her quiet and still until the appointment.i know they bleed when in heat but the vomiting is not normal. keep her packed with clean towels and try to get her to have a little food and water every few hours. i hope she will be ok. ps could she have eatten a sharp bone or something that might have gotten stuck in her bowels??

Do whatever you have to do to get her HELP NOW. These conditions sound very serious. A friend lost his papillon under similar circumstances because he didn't get IMMEDIATE MEDICAL HELP. Sorry for the caps, but do it now because a few hours could make the difference between recovery and regret.

you need to contact a vet ASAP!!! She very well could have pyometra - an infection of the uterus and it will kill her. i dont know 'cause i can't see her but that is my first instinct. happens quite often after heat cycles.
