It's a religion but sometimes when people talk about Islam they're talking about the countries that are predominantly Islamic.

Islam is a belief system that is practiced in many countries in the Middle East and Northern Africa, and has minority populations in the West.
The founding tenant of Islam is that God is Allah and Muhammad is his prophet. Muslims read the Koran for guidance.
Unfortunately, a small part of this religion is composed of fundamentalists who want to enact Shariah law over other countries in the world, a religious law system that calls for stoning and other atrocities against human beings.

It exists in the hearts of the believers ...... it is the way of my Father Abraham the true .. the friend of GOD. Religion is a misnomer for "Way" everyone on earth has a "Way". I follow the Way of my Father Abraham and his way was to submit to the ONE Creator of us ALL and the Creator of the Universe ... which means "Islam" .. "Submit" ..... and one who enters Islam is a "Muslim" i.e. one who Submits to the ONE Creator. Most of the so called "Muslims" today have no clue about the faith ... I reject them ALL and I turn to my Creator and He guides me ALL the time.
