After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses' aide: "Moses My servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them-to the Israelites. - Joshua 1:1-2

A rocket launch is truly an amazing phenomenon to me. Tons of weight is stacked vertically to the sky with thousands of gallons of fuel exploding in a matter of moments. Soon the rocket drops its take-off boosters and uses additional boosters to move the rocket to the next stage of the mission. The first engines have a unique purpose...to get the rocket to the next stage.

Joshua was known for almost 40 years as "Joshua, servant of Moses." God's preparation for him required years of selfless service, training in the desert, and tests of faith. Those preparation years were booster rockets designed to move Joshua into each new stage of his development and his ultimate calling.

God allows each of us preparation times to lay a foundation that He plans to build on. Some of those foundation times appear to be laborious and meaningless, yet these varied experiences are what God is using to frame your life for the message He plans to speak through you. Without these foundational experiences, the Jordan River can never be crossed and we cannot enter the Promised Land.

Embrace these times of seeming inactivity from God. They, too, are a rocket booster to your next stage of your walk with God.

Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6).

Do you?

What a wonderful illustration. I will share that with others. You have encouraged me today to stay faithful and true even through the mundane times. I have suffered for over 50 years with various things, but today I must say that everything has worked together for my good and His glory. I am excited to see what the future brings and how He paints the picture of my life here on earth.

Oh, wow. I needed this. I keep quoting that Scripture (Phil. 1:6) God's been preparing for something and I know things are coming together. I've already had glimpses. I've already seen results, but the more He's preparing, the more of a passion and a zeal I feel for actually doing something so that I can serve my King. Right now, He's being silent and I know that silence can definitely be good. In myself, I feel like He's not speaking because I've done something wrong, but I feel a peace so I know there's nothing.

Sometimes it's hard to remember that inactivity is okay, but you're right, it's preparation. I know God's preparing for His work and I'm so glad because I want to serve Him, but it can be difficult remembering that He has to mold and shape me first. He molded Jesus for thirty years! If He waited, surely we...I can wait.

Thank you.

Amen Brother Newman ! I really needed this reminder. Sometimes we tend to feel like God has placed us on a shelf. When really He Is preparing us for the journey. I do feel like these things are Important to fullfill the call of God In your life, whatever that may be. However, we have to ALLOW God to continue His work In us.So many get frustrated and give up when victory was only around the corner. We have to stay strong and know that God will perform His word and watch over It to bring It to fruiition.Blessings To You Brother...

Great question!

Yes, I hope that I DO carry on. Every day I grow in my Christian walk, and I learn EVERY DAY. The more I know, the more I can help lead others to Christ. But we must remember that we are to WORSHIP the Lord in everything we do, and all times. Herein lies the crux. When the person in front of you cuts you off, do you forgive? Or do you flip them off with your "honk if you love Jesus" bumper sticker.

Living in the Lord's Word is a 24/7 job. The flesh is weak, and the path is narrow. But, through Christ, all things are possible.

Love you, newman, for asking like this. Thank you for the encouragement. Most of the time I don't feel like a rocket launcher, I feel like I have feet of clay and daily I buffett my body. Why? because the good that I would I do not but the evil that I would not is that which I do. O wretched man that I am, who will deliver me from this body of death?
If the Apostle Paul used the above words to describe himself, who am I?

Yes, I do believe that He who began a good work in me will be faithful to complete it, as stated in Philippians 1:6. Thanks for the encouragement! I like the analogy about a rocket launch.

Yes I do believe that, totally. First off because God told us that. So that is all I need to KNOW. HE keeps His promises, and I claim them all. We can all do that if we are truly His children. We must be abiding in Him to have His protection and answered prayer. Abiding= Obeying.
God is so faithful and longsuffering with us. HE wont give up on us easily and HE will finnish we He began. HE doesnt just sit up in heaven and wait for us to make a mistake and pluck us out, give up on us and then send us to hell. Absolutely not. HE is a merciful, loving, forgiving God.
But, God does tell us we can lose the free prize of salvation, by turning out backs on Him. HE wont remove our gift, but we can lose our gift, by walking away from it. Then we are lost. So as long as we havent turned out backs all the way on God without repenting, we can be forgiven, and He will continue to work with us. But, God says before we die we must say No to sin and Yes to Him. I count it all as JOY.
but, this life right here is to teach us how to prepare for the next life. We must learn Kingdom living right here, to be able to do it in Heaven. Its not hard to do when we give our heart and our desires to God , and take on His desires for our lives We will hate sin as much as He does, and He will continue to work with us all the days of our lives.
Till Jesus comes. God bless you for the wonderful question, showing just how much God loves us all.
What love. What mercy.
God bless you to overflow NEWMAN.

As a Christian I have to...otherwise I'm calling God a liar.

God can't lie. Titus 1:2

I do believe this! and it is one of my favorite verses, thank you for sharing it some eight years ago. the truth is just as vibrant today. It's in the times that we are in God's "holding patterns" in between that this is such a great reminder!
