my parents are geyyyyy?

ok so my parents always said i could be whatever i wnated
now im a junior in highschoolm ive made up my mind that i want to become a pilot and they told me they wouldnt support me in college and that if i wanted to be something abnormal for my career id had to get a loan

is this normal?

maybe they want you to learn to spell before you captain an airplane.
