this is just another sign of the deterioration of our civilization.
it is the politician that lies the best that get elected, even when they are proven liars in the past.
the most successful car salesman is the biggest liar.
it only take one lie for me to not trust the honesty of someone.
and it is not easy to regain my trust.

Telling something that isn't true is nothing; anyone can do that, most people do(at least occasionally), and most of the time people realize that one is "stretching the truth", as it were.
It is accepted on this level, and is not usually called "lying", but rather "boasting" or "bragging", although the principle is more or less the same. It is, in fact, so accepted that it usually is not even called sin by Christians. I well remember many times when I attended church, several members of the congregation who "boasted" in such manner and were greeted with pleasant laughter and indulgent smiles--never condemnation. The moral issue, you see, is a matter of perspective.
What is the real insidious talent, and the real social advantage to be mastered......?
Sincerity.
Master that one and you'll go far.

I have never known of a child that did not lie at some point, nor an adult either, for that matter. I am raising a granddaughter who was threatened into deceit by my former daughter-in-law. With fear, that little girl broke down and told me what was going on at her mother's when she was six years old. I took her to the police station, where she tearfully told a detective the truth of the hell she had been living in. She was very brave, and I was careful not to coach her in any way. She knows the value of the truth in a way that many children do not because the truth rescued her. The truth did indeed set her free.

Blasphemy! No, sorry, I do not believe that. There are groups that place great emphasis on truth-telling. Obviously, our politicians are not included.
What communication skills? Most people today do not have as good command of English as a fifth grader...
By the way, the word is "development".

sorry for this copy and paste job from one of the books that Carolyn and I wrote a few years ago:
School days: When you do something wrong either by accident or deliberately and your teacher doesn't see you; ..... blame someone else. You are not the only student with this weapon of deceit. They occasionally blame you and you learn to deny accusations.
Now, you are really in trouble. Not because a few classmates hate you or avoid you, but because you have obtained destructive habits.
(1) You learn to be irresponsible; "It's not my fault"; "It's not my job".
(2) You learn the art of "lying without being caught".
(3) You learn "deceit", the art of lying to achieve a goal.
(4) You learn to lie to yourself. Consequently, most of your decisions will be wrong because you have provided yourself with false information.

I argue and lie very well. Ask any of my remaining friends.
"Encyclopedia of Love"
Also: My mom's favorite story about her first grandaughter at age 5:
My mom asked: Kimberley, why do you lie so much?
Kimberley answered, "I have to Nanny, to stay out of trouble."

There is a difference between lying and speaking your mind without regard for the consequences.
The skill is in learning to speak your mind having regard to the consequences.
I have always admired the subtly I observe in the approach of others. Lying is just carap. Any fool can do it and usually that is what it amounts to. Worse it is habit forming.
People who lie eventually get so wound up in them that they skip from one "reality" to the other without even noticing their inconsistencies. They are socially inept.

If kids want to be what they hate and resent in adults, society, everything, lying is one of the skills they need to develop.

people need to lie, alot of times the truth will get you into deep crap. like if something is broken and you say you did it youd get in a lot of trouble. or someone asks does this look good on me and you say no then the person gets mad. we all want the truth but the truth isnt always great for us.
