I already have my own acoustic guitar, and I took 4 classes but they cost $80 and know I don't have any more money. Also, another question. When I look up chords at www.ultimate-guitar.com, I try to play a song, and it doesn't sound the same as the normal song. Am I doing something wrong?

Go to amazon and order a beginners guitar book, one with a complete chord chart and cd included. When you have your chords down then go to youtube and type in beginners guitar lessons. There are tons from beginners to advanced. Have fun!

Keep in mind that UG's website is tablature that can be posted by anybody so accuracy may not be 100% (but then again kudos for giving us a basis to work on). Likelyhood is though the majority of the "popular" tabs should be a close enough match to the actual song for you to be able to pick up on it. Try to make sure that the chord you are playing is in the right key as well. You could be playing "A" in the open positon, or from the 5th fret (on your deep E string) or in other areas which although is the same tone, may not match the way the song sounds. If you're having trouble following the tab from paper try visiting http://www.guitar-pro.com/en/index.php and trial their program this will both show you the tab and play a midi file that you can listen to at the same time. Also, start easy if your a beginner - what kinds of songs have you been trying to learn?

How long it takes to learn guitar depends on how good you want to get and how much practice you put in. How good you can get with 1-2 hours a day for a few months depends on what methods you use to practice. There are effective practice methods that will help you make the best use of your time. This course is one of the best. https://bitly.im/aMTrI It's not just about how much you play but how effectively you play that will determine how good you will get.
