They are trying to protect the angry one. Also they feel safer if they are with a woman that can not be approached. It mostly sucks for guys.

I have a friend like this...its not that she HATES men, but when you're the (ugly) one of the group and the guys go for your friends...it makes you mad so shes just jealous. bring along a not so handsome guy and things could work out...
