Huh?!?
God does not rescue people from all of their problems - neither do good parents.
God wants you to trust him that he will be with you trough your problems and that you will come out of them stronger - having learned and becoming more like him. If we are coddled and never have to deal with things what kind of people would we be? (I'll bet you know people like that).
Parents are very much in God's image to lead and guide us, and have the same purpose.
Your parents shouldn't be expected to rescue you if you are to become an independent, contributing person - which is the goal of parents and God.

Once one reaches a certain age he takes responsibility to take care of his own needs. There is a huge difference between our earthly parents and God. Our earthly parents are humans like us. however, when one falls on trying times I think it's a good thing for parents and perhaps extended family to help out. As long as it is trying times and as long as it's just not mere laziness. If one is lazy parents would be enabling them to be so by giving them handouts all the time.

I feel sorry for the people that can't go to their parents for anything. No matter how old my brothers and I get we know we can go to our parents and they will help us. Just like my grandparents would have for my dad. So far, none of us have had to. My dad, 48, never had to go to them for anything but he always knew that help would be there if he needed it. My brothers are 26 and 27, and I'm 21 and we know we would have help but we haven't needed it.
Thanks to my parents and their system none of us will ever need help. I feel sorry for the kids that grew up with crappy parents. The ones that kicked them out as soon as they turned 18 and wouldn't give them a place to stay if they were homeless on the street.

anyone who expects their parents to continue to give them more than love after the age of 21, is still a child.
their parents may own some of the blame for their childishness because many modern parents overprotect and baby their kids, instead of working to raise responsible adults.
this does not apply to special needs adult kids, or adult kids who've hit a rough spot like serious illness or something like that...those are special cases where the parent is usually happy to be of help.

Good question, the problem as I see it is that people see God as their servant or worse their slave, they want God to pull a rabbit out of the hat for them and this when things are going bad but God gets little credit or praise in the good times though.

God never said that He would rescue us from our problems, but would make it easier for us to go through our problems.
Family is suppose to help family. There are a lot of ways to help besides money. There is also a commandment about 'respecting' our parents. Maybe if they don't feel any of that, they don't feel obligated to help out.
