Perhaps, it is endemic of the fact that many people can not carry on a civil exchange when it comes to the topic of religion and spirituality.

Sometimes there is & sometimes there isn't. It all depends who is on at the time. And what questions you choose to answer or who chooses to answer your question.
Also, it sometimes matters what catagory you put the question in. Whether it fits. Because sometimes people are just easily offended if you put something in the wrong category or wrote the wrong word, etc...
Also, in R & S is brought up at times what is right & what is wrong & also whose God is better. Or what is sin & what isn't. People get offended if someone writes what they do is a sin. And sometimes people just call someone asking an honest question a liar. Because they just don't believe the truth.
Others answer arrogance & pride. I agree with that. But rooted in that arrogance is self righteousness. I am more righteous than you are. Well? It is true that those who are redeemed are made the righteousness of Christ. So? But some Christians don't realize that, so they make more rules & when others don't go by those rules, they get angry & judgmental because they are self righteous & not Christ righteousness.

Some people are not content with having a certain religion; they insist on converting others whether they want to be converted or not, same here on R&S. I am Christian but I never proselytize or hold my beliefs up as the end all and be all. I expect the same courtesy and tolerance from others. It amazes me how so many presume to speak for God when nothing could be further from the truth.
Also some people come here and ask questions designed to provoke anger, just to get a rise out of people and enjoy getting everyone all riled up. No one asks or has the right to ask others to believe, but everyone owes everyone the freedom to believe or not as they choose...

It is because people don't know how to dialog anymore. People feel that they must argue all the time and don't stop an listen to what other people are saying or writing. If you read the other group here you will find the same things that you observe in this group. It bothers me to but really I'm just bored with everyone.

I know; people are calling me a fruitcake for nothing! One little girl said she was going to report me because I wanted to see the magic underwear. What gives?
I personally am very religious. But I get a kick out of laughing at religion, mine included especially. I don't mean to be mean just logical. Some people can't see humor in the truth.

The subject is very controversial and when Atheists try to make Theists understand the obvious, the Theists use the same old fallacious arguments over and over even though it has been pointed out how illogical, irrational, immoral, and unethical their religion truly is.

You're going to find arguments anytime you talk religion or politics. But personally, I think a lot of the resentment on here stems from people making fun of others' beliefs. I know believers sometimes make remarks they shouldn't about other believers' religions, but most of the anger on here is caused directly by atheists' hostility toward anyone who is either religious or spiritual. They only come on here to call names and make fun of the rest of us. They have no respect for the beliefs of others, but expect us to respect theirs. Which makes them bullies and hypocrites. Anyhow, that's my opinion for what it's worth.

Mostly because people aren't getting enough bruises and broken bones in real life, and they know it, but are scared.
So they come here where it's safe and pretend what they haven't the courage to do where it counts.
