im thinking i want to help women n teens in the sex trade, help to take them out of these things, help them to find jobs n education... or help women n teens who are abused.. n try to prevent these things from happening.. but i dont know like is this called being an activist? or what... if i study social work in college, can i go specifically in helping one group of people? or does as social worker usually help all people that need help? right now im thinking of helping women n female teens.. n even in other countries too (im talking bout the future, when my skills n all enhance) like i want to start my own organization or charity.. if knowing what country i live in now helps to give an answer, it's Canada..

Social work would be your best bet. It is true that your BSW will be generalist in nature and therefore qualify you to work with many populations. However, you can also do some specialization and in CAN there has been a great deal of work done around the sex industry (some organizing of sex workers and such - so there should be some courses related to this). Also human trafficing is something that programs are looking at. You might want to look at the Univ of Toronto.

the best advise you can get will be to ask your school counselor to help advise you on what all classes you will need to take to go into into that field. also you will be able to find out more information by talking to someone that works at the local mental health center like Pathways. good luck, best wishes.

Besides a 'saint', I'm not sure of their title. Make sure you take a course in psychology, as well.
