It means "promotions". For example the promotions of a store that is having a sale.

To get a promotion in your job in Spanish isn't "promoción" it's a mistake often made. The right word is "ascender" for example "el fue ascendido de puesto".

It can mean 2 different things. So it depends on the contest! the first meaning of "promociones" is promotions as in the promotion of a film or something.
The other meaning is quite different, and it can mean year, as in: "Someone in my year won an internatonal grant". That would be translated as "Alguién de mi promoción..."

There's one more meaning to add to the list: it could be 'promociones inmobiliarias' which is real estate projects meaning the whole set of activities of a real estate developer (from buying a piece of ground to actually selling flats or houses). You could find the word 'promoción' in real estate agency adds. 'Últimos pisos de la promoción' etc.
