was once divorced? I was listening to a Christian radio program and a man who had been in prison was talking about how he is a head pastor of a church now. I don't see that as a problem but I find it odd. Now you see a pastor of a church that was once divorced, no matter what his current marital status is now, and he is concidered SCRIPTURALLY WRONG? Why is that? Yes I know what the Bible says. So would you rather have an ex prisoner as your pastor or a man that had 1 divorce?

Good answers so far. You mean there isn't one fundemantal wacko that says a divorced man or an ex prisoner shouldn't be a preacher?

I wouldnt mind either really, though I would have a personal problem with ex rapist or pedophile. Not that they're "more wrong" than the others, just I personally cant trust them as far as I can throw them.

Everyone makes mistakes and if perfection was the requirement for being a Christian, there wouldn't be more than one!! Remember Peter (and John) denied Jesus in His greatest hour of need. Had that happened today in a church they, along with all the other disciples would be excommunicated!
I think it'd depend on the specific circumstances. I'd definately want to see "good fruit" in whoever my pastor was.

Seems God himself would not be qualified to pastors a number of churches seeing as he divorced.

God saves and calls ALL KINDS of people to preach His word.

Outside of Jesus, there is not one person in the bible that was free from sin.

It doesn't matter who it is who spreads the Word faithfully, so long as he or she is a truly repentant sinner, one who doesn't charge a fee, or begin to tithe others.

"...freely ye have received, freely give." --Matthew 10:8.

Peace be with you.

If they're both saved, it doesn't matter.
