I'm sure it's nerves for some reason. By her biting her lip it's leaving a black mark right under her lip. Someone asked me, "is she getting abused, or hit in the mouth?" Her doctor told me to put vasaline under her mouth everday, it's not working. Any ideas?

Give her a REWARD for NOT biting her lip. REWARD GOOD BEHAVIOR to reinforce it. You will know what rewards will work for your child.

Help her develop a healthier method of relieving her nerves. The lip biting is a habit, and it will take some time to replace it with a different habit so be patient. You could get her one of those squeezie ball deals for anxiety, or what is called "Chewlery" its plastic jewelery designed specifically for kids to chew on.

Look for other signs of anxiety as well. If she is having any other problems, I would suggest taking her to see a therapist.

she's biting the outside or inside??
if it's the outside, I've heard you have to put something there that doesn't taste good, so when they try biting it, it tastes gross.. for my cousin i think they used vinegar..

if she's biting the inside... not too sure on advice for that one.. I'm 20 and still bite the skin in the inside of my lip when im bored/nervous... it's just a habit
