Pain contracts are documents that physicians could require their patients to sign when they are prescribing narcotic pain medications.
These documents can contain any requirements that the physician wants. The standard contract basically states that you as a patient will not obtain pain medications through any other physician and where you will be filling the prescription. You as a patient will bring all medications to appointments and count them out with the physician. Some can require drug testing and for you to pay for it out of your pocket. The reason for this is because people who are drug abusers will at times divert pain meds for their drug of choice. The drug test will determine the level of the medication in your body, and that you are taking it. The testing can be completed through urine, blood, or hair follicle testing. The requirements of the contract not only protect the physician, but also protect YOU the patient. This is standard for most physicians and I would not hesitate to sign one. Be leery of a physician that prescribes narcotics without contracts. I hope this helps you, if you have any questions about a pain contract or specific language in one, as your Dr. they are here to help you.

It is like when I was going to a pain clinic after my 3rd back surgery, I had to sign a pain contract. It just says that you will be getting your pain meds ONLY from them and that you will be using the same pharmacy every time. It also says that they can do a drug test on you at any time. They have so many people that abuse drugs, it's a way they can help weed them out from the those who truly need them.

I'm sure you misunderstood her. She means is there pain when the injury comes in contact with something.
