I have a Ruger 10/22 that i got for my 13th birthday, im still 13, i dont like to hunt, but if a freind was going and invited me i would go for fun. I go to the gun-range to practice shooting at targets with my rifle about once every weekend, but i usually invite my brother or someone to shoot with me for company. I am a tight end in a football league, and am perfect weight for my height. I know a lot about guns, more then i should know at my age, its kind of my passion, i practice at the gun range because i am hoping to become a law enforcement sharpshooter when i grow up, and im not saying that like when a kindergardener says he wants to be a police man. i get A's and B's in my classes, but i hate school. I dont have the patience for fishing and my TV is glued to comedy central. i dont have an accent of any sort but i was born in Texas.
My mom sometimes calls me "Bubba", because shes usually just kidding around. so i want to know, do i have the personality of a redneck hillbilly?

Also, i hate NASCAR and cars, if i see a hummer, thats cool, if the hummer's owner opens the hood for me to check out the engine, then i walk away.

Nope it won't make you a redneck, I know plenty of Principals, Doctors, Lawyers, and Judges that all own guns. Most of us either hunt, or shoot competition toghter. To say only rednecks like guns is to say only rednecks like fishing.

No, not at all! There are all kinds of people of all ages in all situations that like guns. New York State is one of the worst places to own a firearm, and over half the households have access to firearms! Most 10/22s are nicer than the normal redneck fare, as well.
It's a very noble career path, but becoming a law enforcement sharpshooter will require an incredible amount of patience. They're often required to sit looking through their tactical scopes for hours on end, waiting for the order to take the shot. It's something you should work on. You might also bug your parents to get you a Savage 10FP in .223 as it's a very fine rifle appropriate for police work. Check out some of the training videos on YouTube.com for what you'll need to do, and give it your all.
Also, keep in mind you'll need to be a regular patrol officer for a while before you can become a sharpshooter. Keep to your books, keep your grades up, and you'll likely make it! Good luck!

Savage... $500 base rifle plus $500 upgrades (barrel, stock) and then a $1000 scope (rule of thumb) and I hope you roll your own... factory ammo is fine for 100 yards. not 1000. I recommend something like a 6.5-284. any F-class preferred caliber. if it's not F-class you're in for a hard time. nothing saying it can't be done, it's just a bit harder to place 5.56 at that range than it is to place something well suited for long range precision. and finally, a rifle is only as good as the shooter, if you can't shoot 1000 yards, don't expect your rifle to shoot 1000 yards. shooting that far is not easy. it is something to learn from professionals and practice on your own. it can be made easier with handloads, which is more consistent than factory, but it's still up to the skill of the shooter. if you're having trouble placing bullets on a soda can at 200 yards, don't even think of shooting 1000. that means you're still struggling with the basics. if you haven't taken the basic courses and practiced the hell out of what you learned, you need to go back and take the basics. my basics are NRA Basic rifle. that's a really really basic course (for total gun newbies), but it's a very good course. many things that were covered I use every day, my marksmanship improved using those skills! they'll also drill safety into you, something everyone can't get enough of. a big overlooked area is practice. practice makes perfect. it does require a huge amount of ammo, even if you're conservative with it you're still gonna be going thru lots of ammo. whatever you decide, make sure you can afford it! (even handloading it's still be pricey) and one more thing, shooting lots doesn't really mean you'll be a good shot, its more important to shoot accurately than throw lead downrange. it's not about quantity of lead, it's about the quality of each shot. especially at 1000 yards. edit.. i keep adding on what tips that may help: - gun is always better than you. if there's problem with accuracy and it's not the ammo, it's your fault - gun recoils AFTER the bullet has left the barrel. recoil, muzzle blast, etc doesn't interfere with the bullet's performance, if you thin kit's recoil you screwed up - accuracy is a combination of you, the ammo and the gun. but gun has the least hold on accuracy, if the barrel is good, rifling is good, and twist suitable for bullet, then it's ammo & you. you don't need a $5000 rifle to do this. in fact you don't have to have a Rem 700. a entry level gun will do just fine, if you've got suitable ammo and skill.

To be honest, I don't much care for the stereotype of redneck or hillbilly. Redneck came from farmers who got sunburned while plowing fields. Hillbilly is juat a deragatory name given to poor white folks who live as they can in the mountains. Like any other "group" there are good and bad amongst them. I blame the movie Deliverance and Jeff Foxworthy and his ilk for promoting this stuff. I do not consider myself politicaly correct by any means but I do have roots in the farming community and am sure lots o folks would call them rednecks. To me they are people I love, and are good people. I am proud of them. So, to me, there are worse things you could become, and it doesnt have a single thing to with firearms.

You better hope so. It's fun living out here in the woods and shooting deer and growing a garden and watching NASCAR on Sunday, except when Jeff Gordon wins and then I want to go out and shoot something. Do you have any 50 round clips for your 10/22? I do !

Do you own a bloodhound?
Are three three cars in your front yard, and only one runs?
Does your family have a matching set of salad bowls that all say "Cool Whip" on the side?
Is the most common phrase in your house "Someone go jiggle the handle!"?
If you can answer yes to at least three, you are well on your way to becoming a redneck.
lol :D

If you watch Comedy Central, you should know all about Jeff Foxworthy. If he starts talking about stuff you do on a sunday morning, you could be a redneck.
