Mankind's common grave. It can be at sea, in the ground, above ground, cremation scattered in a rose bed, or shot into space. Sheol, Hades and Hell are different languages for the same thing--the grave.
Eccles. 9:5,10 shows the dead feel nothing, do nothing.
Psalms 146:4 shows at death the thoughts do perish.
John 5:28 , 29 and Acts 24:15 show the dead wait on a resurrection of both righteous and unrighteous Meaning those who through ignorance of righteous standards did not follow a righteous course.

Hell is described as a bottomless pit (Luke 8:31, Revelation 9:1), and a lake of fire, burning with sulfur, where the inhabitants will be tormented day and night forever and ever (Revelation 20:10). In hell, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, indicating intense grief and anger (Matthew 13:42). It is a place “where the worm never dies and the fire never goes out” (Mark 9:48). God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but desires them to turn from their wicked ways so that they can live (Ezekiel 33:11). But He will not force us into submission; if we choose to reject Him, He has little choice but to give us what we want – to live apart from Him.
The question of what happens after death can be confusing. The Bible is not explicitly clear on when a person will reach their final eternal destiny. The Bible tells us that after the moment of death, a person is taken to Heaven or Hell based on whether he or she had received Christ as his or her Savior. For believers, after death is to be "away from the body and at home with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Philippians 1:23). For unbelievers, after death means everlasting punishment in Hell (Luke 16:22-23).
This is where it can get confusing as to what happens after death. Revelation 20:11-15 describes all those in Hell being cast into the lake of fire. Revelation chapters 21-22 describe a New Heaven and New Earth. Therefore, it seems that until the final resurrection, after death a person resides in a “temporary” Heaven and Hell. A person's eternal destiny will not change, but the precise "location" of a person's eternal destiny will change. At some point after death, believers will be sent to the New Heavens and New Earth (Revelation 21:1). At some point after death, unbelievers will be thrown into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:11-15). These are the final, eternal destinations of all people - based entirely on whether a person had trusted Jesus Christ alone for the salvation of their sins.

Hell is a place of torture, and your will be seperated from God at that time. So the answer is both 1 and 3.
After you die, you will be taken directly to your choosen eternal home:
Heaven if you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior from sin and hell, or,
Hell if you reject the God's plan of salvation, which is really a slap in the face of Christ, considering the sacrifice He made, and the pain He had to endure in order to procure a way for us to escape an eternity of pain in hell.

1.) 1. a place of torture
2.) 2: you go to heaven or hell immediately
These are the most commonly suggested and I would agree for the most part.
