start at akc.org. and search the toy group there r only little dogs there. u can also look in the terrier group

Yorkies and schnauzers are my favorite small dogs. They are cute, usually well-behaved, and have less health problems. Mini daschunds have lots of spinal problems and I have yet to meet a chihuahua that I like. I work at a vet's office and chihuahuas and Jack Russells are the ones that give us the most problems because they usually try to attack us.

How small is "small" to you?
Check out the shiba inu, the look like small red foxes. They're usually less than 20 lbs.

Do you have children or other pets? consider the dogs nature when you decide Doxies are good natured and protective.
Toy poodles are good. Shelties are a little bigger then toys, but are great family dogs.

The best small dogs are mini dachunds. We have one and litter trained her when she was young, so we never have to take her outside. She is so loving and people have nothing but good things to say about them. I would go with this breed.

do you want a toy ? if so then I would choose chihuahua in a heartbeat . i have two and I did not know what I was missing . they are so sweet if you socialize them . they are very smart and easy to potty train .I would definately reccomend chihuahua. good luck .
