keep repeating what the Bible says.
why cant you talk about personal experiances with the Lord instead of repeating what a book says? say, I did this and because of that God blessed me with this? or God showed me that I should do this and guess what happened/? he was right. thats the kind of thing most people want to hear, they do not want to hear you repeating a book that they dont believe in anyway.

I do understand what you are saying. Reading and explaining the Bible should be different from telling others about God. I have over come alcoholism, surviving a bad marriage, survived while in combat in Afghanistan and Iraq, but one of the best experiences I have had of God has not been my own but from watching others who trust in God. I know a great believer of Christ that is suffering through cancer yet he keeps his faith in Christ. He keeps hope that his life will get better even when he is at his weakest point. I consider my small problems and feel ashamed that my faith isn't as stong as this man's faith.

Why? because the word of God is just as right for today as it was for yesterday. The sins then are still the sins of today. Are personal experiences with God was the same experiences man had in the text. God's word is not a lie. Nothing has happened in anyones life that is not common to man. All of the sin nature of man is in there. God addresses it all. If you do not believe in the word of God.What? Can one take credit for what the Lord has done? It is to tell you that he is real and he knows and he warns us just like he warned them in the scriptures. If you do not know the scriptures, how would you know God? What you read and learn,is this; if God was able to do it for them,he is more than able to do it for me. Jesus the same yesterday today and tomorrow. God says these enemies you see today you will see no more. Exodus 14:13-14.

The Bible is the reason we do as we do. It is the source authority.
Why am I not drunk and high with a dozen STDs crawling all inside me ready to bash some old lady's head in for some quick cash? Because it is from the Bible that I have learned a different path.
Any nutbar can say anything here and it is of equal value with a genius. The difference is what the statements are backed up with. Opinion or something older and better.
In any event, it is required of true Christians to use the Bible to show it is not just our opinion. As a witness, the giving of an account, and then the listener can do as they please with it. Our obligation placed on us by God to let you know what He has said has been done. Your lives are not on our hands any more. Our conscience is clear.

Another Very good question Cindy. If a person has a personal relationship with God, they experience him all the time. I went to a doctor the other day and was telling the doctor how God worked miracles in my life. (This was a Christian doctor). I was so saddened when he said..."The last time God moved in my life was a year ago." My eyes started watering. You are right Cindy...it is the personal experiences they need to talk about.

The fact that people don't believe it doesn't make it not true.
We quote the Bible because it is the Truth, and we are just fallen sinners who are not allowed to make up our own "truth". We can only say what the Guy who created our bodies and the Universe says is true. After all, He's been around a heck of a lot longer than we have; I'm sure He knows what's True and what isn't.

That book is where we get our understanding of God. That's how most of us experience change in our lives, through the study of the Scriptures. We believe that the Bible is the infaliable Word of God, given to man. Not just some story book, but something to live by. Now, I think eventhough christians do reference the Bible alot, there are also many accounts of what God had done in peoples lives. I know He's done alot for me.

And why do atheists keep repeating this question? Because you can't stand up to God's word? IT IS THE BASIS FOR ALL OUR ANSWERS AND FOR WHAT WE BELIEVE IN. Everyone derives their answers from different sources from where they get their knowledge. Ours is the Bible. Sorry you can't take it. Maybe we don't want to hear your repetitious babbling either, but we listen, in the name of Jesus, and hope that maybe, just maybe, one atheist will finally say, "yes, that is a wonderful promise". "How come I didn't see that before?" Because your eyes and your heart are clouded and you cannot see until you accept Jesus is Lord. We all pray for you. Blessings!

I think here, on this forum its not easy for all of us to say what God has done for us because it gets trashed very quickly. I have had MANY personal experiences with God that I wont share here because too many people want to try to crush something of great value to me. I have a 360 that talks about some of these blessed events, if someone tries to devalue these things on my 360, I can very easily delete the post.. I can't do that here.

The Bible ties into the Christian life. Would it bother you if one were to say, I followed God's Word such & such, and because of that God blessed me, or if one were to say God's Word showed me that I should do this and guess what, it was right. Whether it is God speaking to your heart, or written on paper, it is still God's Word....and if they don't want to hear about what Jesus said, then they won't want to hear what any Christian is saying either.

Because personal experience does not necessarily prove anything. Only if your person experience stands up to Biblical scrutiny, only then, is it truly from God. Putting your own interpretation about God instead of the Biblical one leads to all kinds of error in our lives.
